
Our advocacy staff will assist in securing the rights and benefits to which you are entitled. Consumers are taught to be self advocates who understand their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Peer advocates are trained individuals with disabilities who work one-on-one and lead support groups to mentor other individuals with disabilities and teach them to be self-advocates.
We provide information about individual rights, community services, equipment, accessibility, and much more. If we do not have the information or specific service you need we will try to locate it for you.
The Client Assistance Program (CAP) is a federally mandated program that advocates on behalf of individuals who are either applying for or receiving vocational rehabilitation services or sheltered or supported employment programs. CAP also offers education to consumers regarding their rights under the Rehabilitation Act and Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
If you need to learn a new skill or fine tune others (traveling on a bus, personal care management, assertiveness and advocacy training, budgeting, using community resources, etc.), the Center will assist you in acquiring the skills you need.
If you receive personal assistance services this program will enable you to be in more control of the services you receive, and the personal assistants whom you employ.
