Donor Rights
1. The donor has the right to expect
that the contractor for which monies are being solicited:
- is properly organized, and exempt from taxation.
- is controlled by a Board of Directors that exercises independent judgment in overseeing its affairs.
- keeps accurate financial records, and is audited annually.
2. The donor has the right to:
- know that the material used, or statements made in the solicitation, are complete and true.
- know/establish the fair market value of anything given to the contractor.
- know exactly how the donation will be spent, if requested by donor.
- an immediate response from the organization regarding any question or inquiry on the use of the donated funds and/or materials.
- information on how the donor could designate funds for a specific program or project.
