Donor Rights

1. The donor has the right to expect that the contractor for which monies are being solicited:

  • is properly organized, and exempt from taxation.

  • is controlled by a Board of Directors that exercises independent judgment in overseeing its affairs.

  • keeps accurate financial records, and is audited annually.

2. The donor has the right to:

  • know that the material used, or statements made in the solicitation, are complete and true.

  • know/establish the fair market value of anything given to the contractor.

  • know exactly how the donation will be spent, if requested by donor.

  • an immediate response from the organization regarding any question or inquiry on the use of the donated funds and/or materials.

  • information on how the donor could designate funds for a specific program or project.
