Concepts Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program - CDPAP

CDPAP Overview

What is the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program?

CDPAP is an alternative to traditional home care services. This program allows people with disabilities who are Medicaid eligible more control over their personal care services.

Consumers enrolled in the Concepts CDPAP program are allowed to manage their own care by allowing the consumer or approved surrogate the freedom to recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and dismiss their own Personal Assistant (PA).

Concepts' role is to bill Medicaid, based on your authorization, and to provide you with payroll services and health and benefit information.

Am I eligible for CDPAP?

A consumer interested in utilizing the program must be:

Who can be my personal assistant?

A personal assistant can be friends, neighbors, former aids, etc. They cannot be a member of immediate family such as spouses, parents, sons/daughters, sons/daughters- in-law. They can however, be a sibling or family member such as cousins, nephews, nieces, etc, provided that they do not reside in your home.

How do I enroll in the program?

If you are a Medicaid recipient in need of home care and you, or someone close to you is willing and able to coordinate your care, you can call your local Department of Social Services to request consideration for placement into the Choices CDPAP.

We can assist with providing you with program guidelines and information on hiring, training, and supervising your PA.
